ABOUT UNITY SCHOOL

Who We Are

Unity Early Childhood & Preparatory School is a 35 year old institution established on the principle of excellence through disciple, hard work, positive thinking and faith in God. Ours is a safe environment where with proper socialization, moral, social and spiritual guidance, our students thrive. Over the years, Unity students have excelled in the fields of medicine, law, business, education and the arts.

Unity was founded  by its visionary principal, Reverend P. Pearl Davis for whom this noble institution is a realized dream. Reverend Pearl invests heavily in her children, and teaches them to live out her own personal mantra: "The sky is not the limit. There is no limit". In 1999, Reverend Pearl's contribution to moulding the lives of young children in Jamaica was recognized with an international award from the Association of Unity Churches. She is also the recipient of the Martin Luther King's Association Award, "Embracing the Dream", as a spiritual pioneer.

A typical day at school includes general devotions with singing, stories, readings and prayer; engaging lessons and classroom activities, quiet time of reflection, plus extracurricular activities.

It is the school's motto which best summarizes who we are and what we do:

Unity is strength. Together we achieve!

Our Mission

Unity Early Childhood and Preparatory School provides the foundation for spirtitual, mental, moral, educational and physical development. Our main goal is to develop a harmonious environment that focuses on excellence, self-respect, self-esteem, confidence, productivity and responsibility of children.

Our History

Our school was established in 1980 with 4 students, but quickly grew in the 1st year to 125. The school was registered with the Ministry of Education in 1982. The teaching staff  which was initially comprised of Rosmarie Porter and Marlene Numbdarkhon, quickly grew as 4 trained teachers were added. This growth also required more adequate facilities, and so the original property at 12 Dome Street was expanded to include 2 upper floors.  Unity now had a home for its 450 students! In 2008, Unity relocated to its current location on Brandon Hill. A beautiful, building on the hill overlooking the bay, away from the city's tumult now houses Unity as it continues to grow and thrive.
